William F. Banky
William Frederick Banky, son
of Henry and Marie Banky, was
born in Germany, Oct. 20, 1878.
In the fall of 1880 he with his
parents came to America settling-
near Woodville. Several years
later the family moved to Eliiston.
He received Ms education in the
church school at Elijstop...... .In
1893 he was- confirmed by Rev. A.
C. Stange in the Trinity Evangel¬
ical church at Eliiston. Later the
family moved to Trowbridge, then
a farm north of Limestone.
Mr. Banky was united in mar-'
riage to Lena Buhrow in 1908.
This union was blessed with seven
children, one infant son preceding
the father into eternity.
Mr. Banky was always active in
community and church life. Along
with his farm work he took up the
bee industry. He organized the
Ottawa County Bee Keepers Asso¬
ciation and was president of this
organization until a year ago
when he resigned because of ill
health. He was a member of the
St. John's Lutheran church, Rocky
Ridge, for over 26 years. For 12
years he served on the Council.
He was a charter member of the
Brotherhood.
He enjoyed good health until
about two years ago. He submitt¬
ed to an operation a year ago
January and recovered sufficiently
to enable him to he up and around':
during the summer. For the past
three months he has been bedfast, i
The Lord called him into eternity j
Saturday morning. April 3, the j
cause of his death being cancer, j
He reached the age of 58 years, 5
months and 13 days.
He leaves to mourn his depart-'
ure his beloved wife, six children,:
three daughters, Mrs. James Loury'
of Toledo. Clara. Elsie, three sons, j
William Jr., Lawrence and Clar-I
ence, one sister Mrs. Wm. Detmer, |:
two brothers Louis of Rocky \;
Ridge and Fred of Toledo, one I
uncle Henry Bomlitz of Cleveland,
one aunt, Mrs. Catherine Prange,
of Toledo, one grandson William
James Loury and many other rel¬
atives and friends.
Funeral service was held Mon-
! day afternoon in St. John's Luth¬
eran church, Rocky Ridge, Rev.
E. H. Kempfer, officiating. The
i body was laid to rest in the El-
