Treasurer John Bredehoft, died last Sun¬
day, at his residence in Danbury township.
J The deceased was aged 62 years, two

1839, purchasing land on the Peninsula thill
year before Ottawa county was organised;'
where'he embarked in tile enterprises of
farming and 'fishing, and where he con-;
tinued to reside up to the time of his death.
He Was liked by all who knew him, aud

his name was placed on the .Democratic
ticket as a candidate for County Treasurer*
j when soldiers stationed on Johnson's
t Island were permitted to vote in this
J county, overcoming the Democratic ma-
!i jority ;'and although every other candidate
jj ou tbe Democratic ticket was defeated that,
year, Mr. Bredehoft was elected by a large,
majority. Owing to lingering sickness in.
his family at that time,Mr. B. refused to
serve a'second term, es ha wished to be)
home with Ma family. He was a man of
excellent habits, honest and upright in all
transactions, and had the respect and con-"
rideuce of all, He leaves a widow and five*

came, he remaining conscious to the last,1
recognising them all. The funeral services
were held last Thursday afternoon at the
German Lutheran church, conducted by
j Rev. Harddrf, where a large circle of
I mourning friends gathered to pay theii1
[ last sad rites to another of our good old
\ pioneers.
