The cause of his death was Bright's disease, with which he had been afflicted for the past four or live years.
He was born in Danbury, February 10, 1847, and was married to Miss Mathilda Lewis December 26, 1866. Seyen children were born unto them, two of whom, Sophia C. and Lewis, have preceeded him to the grave. The eldest daughters are married. Henri¬ etta is the wife of Capt. Wm. In 1879 he was elected Commissioner of Ottawa county, to succeed Mr. Elijah Lattimore, of Bay township, and he was re-elected in 1882, serving in that office with honor to himself and to the satisfaction of his constituents. In his private life, in his dealings with his fellow men, he so conducted him¬ self that now at his death none can say ill of him; none can praise him too highly.
The funeral was held last Monday. Rev. Dornbier, of Sandusky, conducted the services at the house in English. The Christie Chapel quartette was also present and feelingly rendered several hymns. The remains were then taken to the church at Danbury. where the regular German Lutheran services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Reitz.
