.. Ella Gordon Allen, daughter oi David and Caroline Redding Gor¬ don, was born May 16, 1865, at the family homestead on the Port¬ age river, one mile east of Oak Harbor. On December 18, 1900 she was married to F. H. Allen, Pembervilile, where they went to housekeeping. At this time Mr. Allen's 10-year old orphaned sis¬ ter, Goldie (.Mrs. C. M. Seeley) came to make her home with them. Mrs. Allen reared her with a mo¬ ther's care and devotion. With the exception of the next four and one- balf years, Mrs. Allen spent he*; entire life in Salem township. To Mr* and (Mrs. Allen was born one son, Gordon Walter, who died at the aige of three months. She was the"youngest of ten children, five of whom grew to maturity: John, David, (George and Rachel Gordon Eisenhour, all of wfoom preeeeded Mrs. Allen in death. SHie was a life-long memlber of the Methodist Chnsreh and also a member of the Thinsble Chib, Country^ Qulture and the Orange.
