Death of F. M. Althoff.
rf he editor of the News Democrat wis called to Dayton last Wednesday jy a telegram notifying him of the death of his father, F. M. Altboff. The deceased was born at Emmitsburg, Maryland, April 19th, 1835. He came west in 1852 and located at Dayton where he has since resided. He en¬ gaged in farming for a time and later went into the grocery business. He was twice married. His first wife died in 1859, leaving a little daughter, Miss Mamie C. Althoff, who resides in Day¬ ton. He was married in 1861 to Jen¬ nie E..Claris, who died July 9,1888. To this marriage one son was born, W. H. Althoff, of Fort Clinton. He was a good man, honest and kind and gener¬ ous to a fault. The funeral was held Saturday morning, May 16th.
