| MRS. ELLA DEAN
STRICKEN IN TOLEDO
Oh Tuesday night of last week Mrs.
Ella Briggs-Dean, sister ox Mrs. John
j Darling and well known #in Elmore,
was taken suddenly and seriously ill
at her rooms in Toledo. The following
day Mrs. Darling and husband were
summoned to Toledo and they re¬
mained with her all day and into the
night. With no signs of improvement
Mrs. Dean, attended by her sister and
husband, Mr, and Mrs. Darling, and1
aunt Mrs. Emma Miller of this place,
was taken to Mercy IHospital in the;
/city Thursday and underwent an oper¬
ation late in the day but she never
rallied. Late that evening she passed
away and Mr. H, E. Burmann, our
home undertaker, was summoned to
the city to take charge of the body and
bring it to Elmore to the home of her
sister, for funeral services, the body
arriving here about 3 o'clock Friday
morning.
On Monday afternoon following,
funeral services were conducted by her
pastor, Rev. Arnold of Toledo at tb/3 j
[Darling home, attended by a large j
J company of friends from Elmore and|
■out of toton. Mrs. Smith Welch and!
Miss Fahl of Toledo sang "Lead Kind-1
fly Light" and "The Crossing of the
Bar/! The floral tributes were many
and beautiful, bearing mute testimony
to the love and esteem in which Mrs.
Dean was held by those who knew and
| loved her best. Men from the Ameri¬
can Express office in Toledo where J
|Mrs. Dean had long been a valued
? employe came to serve as pallbearers,
Unterment taking place in Oak Harbor,
I her former home.
Ella Irene, daughter of Jphn and
[Mattie Briggs, was born in Toledo,
Ohio, March 14, 1889, and departed
this life March 10, 1922, aged nearly;
33 years. While in school at Locust I
| Point she joined the U. B. Church of
that place. Few people have been so
i generally beloved, few have merited
in so high a degree the loyal and
abiding affection of their associates.
Her charm of manner and gentleness
of speech were but the outward^ signs
o-* hci inner £f«iccr Tar oh.."- wiis-'klod-
i liness and sincerity personified.
I She is survived by her father and
| mother, three brothers and three sis¬
ters, a devoted aunt and several nieces*
and nephews, besides a host of sorrow¬
ing friends. One sister, Sadie, pre¬
ceded her to the Heavenly Home ten
years ago.
