Death of William Deacon*
,v
William Deacon was born ir
Wantage. Eng,, May 6, 1833, and
died at Elmore, O., March 12,1900.
Mr. Deacon and wife came tc
this country in 1866, and for more
than 25 years had resided at the
pleasant country home east of town
where he passed away.
Mr. Deacon had been a great
sufferer for several weeks from that
most dread disease, cancer of the
stomach. For the last eight years
he was totally blind and to him
death came as a welcome deliverer
from pain and darkness.
A just man has gone from among
us and a kind and loving father has
left his home for the one "over
there." Of him it may be truly
said, "he has passed from the dark¬
ness into light." 3-/^~-f <%0@
Besides a faithful and devoted
wife who survives him, there are
six daughters and three sons, all of
whom, with the exception of Mrs.
Chas. Boggs who is confined to her
home by illness, were present much
of the time to minister to his wants
and to comfort and cheer him in
the closing hours of his life. The
funeral occurred from the residence
on Wednesday forenoon. Inter¬
ment in union cemetery.
