Gentlemen:
Please send me any current literature or brochure you might have on the Miss Wheelchair America Pageant. I hope it is still being held as several years ago I saw some literature on it.
I am particularly interested in the entrance requirements. I am writing on behalf of my cousin who is twenty-two years old and a most attractive and intelligent young lady. Three years ago, she was permanently paralyzed from the waist down in a light plane crash in which her father was killed. I feel Karen has done wonders in adjusting to this tragedy. She is working as a secretary in a small office and is active in her church and local community activities.
While she is almost totally dependent on her wheelchair for mobility, as a testimony to her determination, she has taught herself to move about for short distances with the aid of a very heavy back-leg brace apparatus and crutches.
I feel that she would be a very worthy contestant in the pageant.
Very truly yours,
Gary Cox
