Description |
These are the front and side facades of the Crawford County Courthouse. The structure was built in 1854, by architect O.S. Kinney and contractor A.E. Hanckock, but extensive renovations between 1906 and 1908 by architect Harlan Jones significantly updated the building. Prior to this, in 1893, a rear addition designed by J.L. Assenheimer was added. The original brick facade was covered with stone, and an impressive stained glass dome was installed above the courtroom. To the left of the courthouse entrance, there is a statue honoring Colonel William Crawford, a Revolutionary War hero and namesake of the county. |
