Edison
Wadsworth
was a
cousin
of the
inventor
and
lived
in the
Edison
home
in
Milan
as an
elderly
woman
.
Photographer
Matthew
Brady
(1823
ca.-1896)
pioneered
the
field
of
photojournalism
with his
photographs
of the
Civil
War
.
Brady
organized
twenty
teams
of
photographers
to
document
the
conflict
and his
photographs
remain
some
of the
most
powerful
images
of the
war
.
Brady
began
his
career
as a
daguerreotypist
in
New
York
City
in
1839
. In
addition
to his
Civil
War
photographs
,
Brady
is
also
known
for his
portraits
of
significant
Americans
,
including
Abraham
Lincoln
,
Jefferson
Davis
,
P.T
.
Barnum
,
Clara
Barton
, and
Walt
Whitman
.
