Evaluating Your Resources

You have reviewed the subject categories and examples, but still do not know what to submit. What do you do? First, ask yourself these questions:

1. What are the highlights of your collections?
2. What is the most significant, oldest, or most unique item or collection in your institution?
3. What collection/item best represents your community or region?
4. What items are most used or requested by patrons?

• Work with institutions to help them decide what to submit
• Collect more information about an item after it has been accepted
• Evaluate information on forms
• Prepare recommendations for the staff
